Hannes Eder

Can the country that brought you Spotify, Stieg Larsson and PirateBay have a part in redefining publishing? Hannes Eder is head of research and development at Publit, a print-on-demand and ebook service that essentially does for books what blogs did for the web. Since its inception in 2008 Publit has received funding for four major research projects, and caters for many of the largest publishing houses in Scandinavia, while at the same time opening the flood gates of self-publishing. Deeply rooted in publishing, Hannes has been a professional reporter and script writer; with three nationally screened documentaries under his belt. After several years as a freelance correspondent in the Balkans, the Middle East and Northern Ireland, he rebooted his career; first studying and then teaching interaction design at the Södertörn university college, where at 27 he became head of the department of media technology. He’s lectured extensively on topics ranging from design methodology to the narrative and technological nature of the digital book. Hannes has also been a consultant for the Scandinavian Association of independent publishers and the Stockholm metropolitan library and thinks he has some pretty good ideas about the future of publishing. He’d love to come and talk to you about it.
